Kind of intrigued by this game. The lines and shapes remind me very vaguely of a particular story chapter of KQ7 (or was it 8? the princeless bride disney-fest one) and its half-assed handling of steampunk tech, but this time this looks like it’s been done right.
“Hatoful Kareshi [J] (hato=dove, kareshi=boyfriend so it is a word play of “full of pigeons boyfriend” and “heartful boyfriend”) is a Japanese style text-and-image virtual school dating game for girls, except all of your school love-life targets are pigeons.”
OH MY GOD WHAT MORE COULD I POSSIBLY ADD TO THIS *brain explodes*
PSFK summarizes the “gaming-for-good” trend that is undoubtedly going to rear its head in some form at SXSW this year. This kind of reminds me of some work I did in class based on Natalie Jereminjenko’s Environmental Health Clinic.
“People who don’t pay attention to game culture might not be aware of just how seriously game designers take scientific research, particularly around psychology. Game companies have people whose job it is to follow the research and try to implement it. Positive psychology is actually helping players have a more positive experience. I like to say that game designers are essentially happiness engineers. The only thing they really care about is making the player feel these positive emotions, that’s why we play games, it’s the business that we’re in.”—Jane McGonigal’s stellar interview on AlterNet about the future of gaming.
The Secret World finally has a release date, June 19 this year! Way to avoid Nukem hell, guys.
I’m intrigued with this new Warp game but unfortunately don’t have a console in my apartment right now besides a Super NES :3
Anyone know how to set up a private Minecraft server?
Really stoked about the Double Fine freak success story. 2 million bucks on Kickstarter….where do I even begin.
Did some grown-up stuff today and attended SCAD’s amazing Comics Art Forum which delivered a much-needed kick in the ass. Need to rethink some priorities and the way I’ve been going about my creative process.
Attended an amazing panel on owner-created comics with Skottie Young, Spike and Jonathan Luna, who happens to be a SCAD alum. Eggs of wisdom were cracked.
Also hit up the SCAD career fair - I don’t graduate til next year but it was good to see what to expect for next year’s career fair, which will undoubtedly be a really fucking stressful time for me. Yay future stress planning! Google Creative Labs were there, and Floyd County who does the televisual goodness that is ARCHER.
